Founded in Manchester by Karl Tanswell in 1999, SBG UK is a nationwide network of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts academies united by a shared training philosophy, curriculum and set of coaching standards.

Today, the organisation continues under the direction of Matt Inman and Simon Kenny, supported by Ella Tanswell, Karl’s original black belts—Casey Jones, Chris Coltrane, Glyn Powditch and Jason Tan—and experienced SBG coaches throughout the UK.
